Studying for GCSE English, Maths and Science

Studying for GCSEs is a daunting experience for any student. At the age of just 15 and 16, GCSE results can affect the rest of their lives. Whether the student wants to go into further education or find a career, GCSEs are extremely important. Most colleges, sixth forms and employees will ask for GCSE English, Maths and Science as a minimum requirement.

GCSE English

Learning from Home

Learning in a school environment can be an added pressure for some students, whether it is other commitments or schedules, disabilities or special needs. Other students may have been expelled or suspended from school but this doesn’t mean they are not entitled to sit their exams and achieve qualifications. In any of these circumstances, learning from home could be the answer.

Distance learning courses are just for students who want to re-sit their exams and improve their qualifications; they can also be used to prepare students for their first time. Distance learning comes in a variety of forms including: learning websites, post materials, emails, telephone calls and videos.

GCSE Maths

When studying for GCSE Maths it is important to have plenty of exercises to practice with – as well as learning the skills. As the saying goes, practice makes perfect. Key topics involved in a Maths GCSE course include: algebra, geometry, statistics, money and graphs.

GCSE Biology

Science is another core GCSE subject. The course is split into three modules: GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics. As well as examinations in all three modules, there is also a practical skills and coursework/investigative section. These can all be covered through a home study course too.

GCSE’s are stressful period, but there is extra help available. Support and encouragement from family goes a long way too.
